Shalom Lamm is a New York-based real estate executive who has guided diverse projects spanning eight states over the decades. Volunteer driven, Shalom Lamm serves on the board of the nonprofit Camp Morasha, which is located in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and provides Orthodox Jewish youth with summer camping experiences.

An article in the Times of Israel brought focus to the way in which the environs surrounding Lakewood, Pennsylvania, have emerged as a locus for religiously observant Jewish camps, including Ramah, Moshava, Lavi, and Morasha. This has involved setting in place a contained, immersive, environment within the “eruv,” or halachic borders of the camp.
Part of creating this environment involves providing traditional Jewish foods and observing kosher culinary preparation techniques, and this focus on creating a kosher experience has spread to the local community. One of the favorite hangouts is Jericho’s, which has offered kosher ice cream and shakes for more than 15 years. Another noteworthy eatery is Como Pizza, which has long been invaluable in providing campers, visiting family members, and staff with an enjoyable kosher dining experience outside of camp boundaries.
